Even commanding yourself, you would have to manually create 2-3 infantry groups based on their tiers and then command them individually ideally you'd even want 2 different groups of light infantry to send one around either flank, and that seems a bit tedious in this game given how you can't just pop a tactical map and look down from high above giving commands like in a Total War. Until this kind of tactics are used by the AI, the mod does not seem really fun to me personally. You would not just send your light infantry into the enemy's heavy infantry, would you? You'd have the heavy guys hold back the enemy heavies and then flank with the lighter ones to tip the battle in your favour. If your high tier troops end up fighting mid tier troops, they will obviously win, but much slower than the enemy on the other flank decimating your levies, and then it just snowballs from there because at some point your own high tier units are just surrounded and beaten dead. So it seems to come down to who got the luckier placement of their high tier troops.

The higher tier units of an army should deal with the enemies' high tier units, but that just does not happen. The realistic battle and armour stuff looks good, but it makes the game super imbalanced in these kind of situations around 1:08:00 because just 4-5 of these super high tier enemies went through the levies like a hot knife through butter - not that this isn't okay, it obviously makes sense, but the fact that the commander sends levies against heavy infantry is not okay.
